Songinfo

"Stand by me" is a song released in 1961. This song was inspired by the spiritual hymn "Lord Stand By Me." It has since been recorded into more than 400 other versions. In early 2000 it was believed to be the 4th most performed song of the 20th century, with more than 7 million performances. Ben E. King first offered it to his group, The Drifters but was told – "Not a bad song, but we don’t need it."

Bruce on the artist

intro to the song:

"Have you ever been lonely ? well, the world is a lonesome place....and you need somebody you can lean on....when you´re down and in trouble....´cause everybody stumbles and they fall....you need somebody who can give you a hand back up again....stand by your side..."

Lyrics

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

So darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Stand stand by me, stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh now now
Stand by me
Stand by stand by me stand by me

Darlin', darlin', stand by me, stand by me
Stand by me stand by me stand by me

Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

Darlin', darlin', stand by me, stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
