In April 2008, it was announced that Alejandro Escovedo will be managed by Jon Landau (Bruce Springsteen's longtime manager) and Barbara Carr. During the 14 Apr 2008 Magic Tour show at Toyota Center in Houston, TX, Springsteen paid homage to Escovedo stating that he "has been making great music for a long, long time".  
"Coming out of New Jersey, I’ve always been a big fan of the Texas songwriters... so I always like coming down this way to get a chance to see a few of my friends, folks whose work I admire, there’s been a fellow, one fellow who’s been, been putting out good records for so long, he’s gonna come up and he’s got a new record coming out on June 10th: Alejandro Escovedo .."
