One of the most popular Bilbainaidas that exists is "from Santurce to Bilbao". Although its author is unknown, it dates from the late nineteenth century and that it was sung as a tribute to all the Sardineras that made the route between Santurce to Bilbao (first by walk and from the late nineteenth in the newly inaugurated railway) , to sell everything their husbands caught.

Lyrics
Desde Santurce a Bilbao
vengo por toda la orilla
con mi falda remangada,
luciendo la pantorrilla.
Vengo deprisa y conrriendo
porque me oprime el corsé,
voy gritando por las calles:
¡Sardina frescué!
Mis sardinas, que ricas son,
desde Santurce las traigo yo.
La del primero me llama
la del segundo también,
la del tercero me dice:
a cómo las vende usted?
Yo le contesto que a cuatro,
ella me dice que a tres,
cojo la cesta y me marcho:
¡Sardina frescué!”
